By leaving them as seperate files you should be able to move them individually forward or backward on the timeline to compensate for slight errors in cutting the original clip. I would suggest that you leave them as seperate clips, and place them on the audio track of your OpenShot movie. You should now have 3 clips that when spliced together will recreate the original file with the short segment played backwards. Then click the Reverse button and this tool will output reversed video with the same resolution and encoding.
